The UNESCO World Heritage archaeological sites of Tulum, Coba and Muyil are incredibly photogenic, but you’ll also want to spend some time exploring other nearby ruins!

Xcaret Park

Xcaret water park is one of the Riviera Maya’s most popular attractions. The park offers a wide range of water activities, ecological attractions and beautiful scenery.

The park offers a full day of fun, food and culture. It is a family attraction that is a great option for those with young children.

At Xcaret, guests can explore jungle trails, dive in subway rivers and caves, or have fun on pristine beaches. They can also enjoy a variety of museums and shows.

The park is open from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and ideally, visitors should plan their visit to include the entire day. Several activities and attractions are included in the admission fee, which means you can choose your own path and focus on the things that appeal to you most.

Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres is one of the most beautiful places in Mexico, offering a world-class vacation experience without the hassles of a big city. The beach is breathtaking and the island has a variety of activities and attractions that will keep you busy all day long.

There is plenty to do on Isla Mujeres, but some of the more unique experiences are out of the ordinary. For example, there is a cave where sleeping sharks have been discovered and it is actually quite an incredible experience to go snorkeling there.

Still don’t have your transfer service to Isla Mujeres? Don’t hesitate any longer and book it right here.

Another fun thing to do is to check out the art scene in the city. Many street artists have painted murals throughout the city depicting marine life.

There are also stores along the street where you can find a wide variety of hand-woven rugs, dresses, masks and amazing folk art. It is well worth a day spent shopping here. The island also hosts an artists’ festival every Thursday from 4.00 p.m. onwards, where local and visiting artists can exhibit their work.

Kaan Luum Lagoon

Laguna Kaan Luum is a beautiful lagoon surrounded by a nature reserve. It is located 16 km south of downtown Tulum and is a popular day trip from the resort area.

It is a freshwater lagoon fed by a deep cenote in the center of the lagoon. The edges of the lagoon are clear and emerald green, while the water in the center is a darker blue.

The lagoon is a great place to take pictures of birds and fish in their natural habitat. It is also a great place to relax and enjoy the sun on a wooden dock.

Swimming in the middle of the lagoon is prohibited as it is too deep, but the shallow edges are ideal for swimming. If you want to swim in the deepest part of the Cenote, make sure you are certified to dive!

Whale Sharks

One of the most incredible snorkeling experiences you can have is swimming with whale sharks. These gentle giants of the deep can grow up to 40 feet long and weigh up to 20 tons.

Between May and September, thousands of these incredible fish gather in the warm Caribbean Sea off the Yucatan Peninsula to feed on plankton, providing a unique opportunity for swimmers to have a once-in-a-lifetime swim with these gentle giants in the Riviera Maya!

Tours begin with pick-up and drop-off from Playa del Carmen, Tulum or Cancun and are led by expert English-speaking guides. Once on board the boat, you will head to an area in the Mexican Caribbean where the highest concentration of whale sharks can be found. Once the sharks have been spotted, jump in and dive with these amazing creatures in a calm and natural way.

The kids will surely get tired of playing and doing all these activities. When that happens don’t forget to take some time with your partner and go out and have fun, life is short.

Conclusion

Although the Riviera Maya is full of living nature, there are also cities like Cancun that have what you are looking for. In the center of the city you can find tours of all kinds and even some very top tours similar to the Barcelona bar tour that you can find in Europe. Also, depending on the time of the year you go, you can find a kind of carnivals in the style of Carnivals in Madrid, but this is not suitable for minors. Remember that if you buy your tickets in advance, wherever you go, you can save on them.
