    More information*

    Playa Express Cancun

Playa Express is a shared and low cost transportation line that can be taken from downtown Cancun, to be more specific: Its base in Cancun is located in front of the ADO Cancun terminal.

NOTE: As such it has 3 other bases, however the busiest one is the one located in downtown Cancun, which we will talk about in this post.

This transportation line as such is not a “public transportation”, however the hundreds of travelers and locals that take this vehicle daily have baptized it as such.

What is the cost of Playa Express?

The cost of the Playa Express transfer from Cancun to Puerto Morelos, from Cancun to Playa del Carmen or vice versa is 55.00 MXN per person.

What destinations can I reach with Playa Express?

As such this shared shuttle runs along the route Cancun – Playa del Carmen, meaning that your final destination is very close to the center of Playa del Carmen. However, along the way this transportation service may make stops to drop off or pick up passengers.

The most common stops or passenger boarding and alighting stations are:

    • Cancun Airport Entrance
    • Xoximilco Cancun
    • Cocodrum Cancun
    • Puerto Morelos
    • Paradise Beach
    • Punta Maroma
    • Nickelodeon Hotel
    • Du Solier Circus

It is worth mentioning that as such it leaves you between the main avenues that lead directly to the entrance of the Cancun airport, but at this point you have to walk between 20 to 30 minutes to get to the corresponding terminals.

Similarly, the shuttle service passes through Puerto Morelos, specifically on the Federal Highway Cancun – Playa del Carmen and between Puerto Morelos Pueblo and Puerto Morelos Hotel Zone.

Can I get to Cancun airport with Playa Express?

As such, the entrance to the Cancun airport is located between Colosio Avenue and Punta Nizuc Avenue. The Playa Express shuttle service “passes” through this intersection. But as such, it “does not enter until you reach one of the Cancun airport terminals”.

This means that you can get to the entrance of the Cancun International Airport with Playa Express, but you will have to walk 20 to 30 minutes to get to Cancun Airport Terminal 1,2,3 or 4.

And if you want to avoid this, the best option is a private transfer which will drop you off at Cancun airport terminal 1,2,3 or 4.

Where in Playa del Carmen does Playa Express drop me off?

If you take the Playa Express transfer from Cancun and you intend to get to Playa del Carmen with this transfer, then you should know that your final destination is the base of Playa Express in Playa del Carmen, which is located 100 meters from downtown Playa del Carmen and less than 200 meters from Quinta Avenida.

What are the Playa Express schedules?

Playa Express private transportation service from Cancun to Playa del Carmen or from Playa del Carmen to the city of Cancun, has a very busy schedule, being 5:00 AM the first departure time from Cancun or Playa.

From this first schedule, every 30 minutes other vans of the same company and trajectory leave every 30 minutes, being the last departure time 12:00 am.

    Conclusion

Playa Express is a shared transfer line that can be taken from downtown Cancun or downtown Playa del Carmen. As such it is highly recommended if you are looking to “save money” on the transfer between these two cities. But it is necessary to mention that it is not the ideal option if you are traveling with a lot of luggage and if you are looking to get to the door of your hotel.

Since it has a specific route and destination, it does not leave the same route and therefore can leave you near your hotel, but not at the door as well as the private transfer would do.

The Azulik hotel is well known for being one of the most “integrable” hotels in town. That’s something we don’t say, it is said by the thousands of people who have had the privilege of staying at this 5 star resort in Tulum.

The hotel is not cheap at all, so be prepared to pay almost 15,000 to 25,000 pesos per night.  But paradoxically this amount is worth it, as the hotel stands facing the sea and has a jungle architecture. In fact, the hotel looks like Peter Pan’s house. So get your camera ready and don’t hesitate to take pictures in every corner of this resort.

    Papaya Playa Project

With ocean view rooms and a jacuzzi on the heights of its facilities that allows you to contemplate the beauty of the jungle and the sea, the Papaya Playa Project Hotel is another of our lodging options in Tulum.

It is an eco hotel and although it mentions that it is a “simple boutique hotel”, the word simple is an understatement. The resort has houses, cabins and lofts. Each with its own facilities, advantages and disadvantages. But paradoxically, all designed under a nomadic, jungle and luxurious theme.

The hotel is located in front of the sea and for a change: Every Saturday activities are organized, and once a month there is a full moon party. All activities include music by international DJs at the beach bar.

There’s also a spa specializing in Mayan shamanic therapies, and guests can go fishing and practice water sports on the nearby beaches, so if you want to vibrate high in Tulum, come to this amazing resort.

It is worth mentioning that the suites available are for couples as well as for families of no more than 6 people.  It is worth mentioning that it is one of the most economical and elegant resorts in Tulum. A night can cost between 1,500.00 MXN to 3,000.00 MXN per night.

    La Valise Tulum

The Azulik hotel has many hotels that compete with it in terms of design, architecture, service and travel experience, well the hotel “La Valise Tulum” is one of them.

The hotel is 100% for couples, as all its suites can only accommodate two people. But do not confuse this capacity with the ample space you have for you and your partner. For it is very spacious, equipped and even has aspects of cabins but very elegant.

And not to tell you more and book your stay right now: We leave you a video that will show you everything you’re missing right now.

    Conclusion

Finally it is necessary to mention that Tulum is not close to the city of Cancun and one of the ways to get here, at least if you plan to stay in one of these luxurious and elegant hotels, is to hire our private transfer service. Aktun Chen

Would you like to know Aktun Chen? Aktun Chen is a natural park located between the city of Playa del Carme and Tulum and of course, a tourist place that has caught the attention of many visitors to the Riviera Maya. So surely if you are visiting the Riviera Maya or staying in Cancun you will want to know this place and that is why right now we will tell you a little about it.

    Aktun Chen
    Fuente: TripAdvisor

    Aktun Chen

Aktun Chen is located 107 km from Cancun, along the Mayan Riviera, just 16 km before the Mayan Ruins of Tulum and 4 km past Akumal, you find Aktun Chen, which in Mayan means “cave with an underground river inside”.

To get here, you can book a transfer service in Cancun or buy a tour that already includes the transfer. It should be noted that if you are in Playa del Carmen or Tulum, you can get to Aktun Chen by public transportation. But as we mentioned above, if you are in the city of Cancun, the best option is a private transfer.

Aktun Chen - how to get there

The park has an area of 400 Has (988 acres) of unexplored Rainforest in which the only thing that has been exploited is the gum of a local tree called “chicozapote”.

Three caves with a cenote (underground river) have been discovered in the park. The main cave is now suitable for an easy walking tour which has been enhanced with indirect lighting for a better view and enjoyment of the thousands of stalactites, stalagmites and natural sculptures, all of them formed by water and calcium carbonate throughout five million years.

You are able to see some of the local wildlife such as the white tail deer, the spider monkey, the badger, the wild boar, the wild turkey, the iguanas and some local wild birds.

When you arrive at the reception area in Aktun Chen, you are welcomed by a specialized guide, who takes you on a journey that lasts for about an hour and fifteen minutes.

There you learn about the use that the ancient Mayans gave to the caves, as well as the formation process of the stalactites, stalagmites and the cave itself, giving you an interesting and pleasant learning experience.

After touring 600 meters of very interesting formations in the cave, you are right in front of a breathtaking cenote of crystal clear water with a depth of 12 meters, and a no less magnificent vault with thousands of stalactites, which take you to the end of your journey in the cave. The cave can be toured by anyone regardless of age, as long as you can walk on your own.

    visit Aktun Chen mexico

It has even been visited by people who need the help of a cane for walking. People who are claustrophobic can enjoy this wonderful place without any fear, due to the fact that along the walk thru the cave there are three exits to the jungle that make the place feel ventilated and eliminate the feeling of confinement.

    Festivals of Tulum

    Festivals of Tulum

Do you want to visit the city of Tulum and still don’t know what to do? Then here we will tell you some of the parties and festivities that you could find and of course, schedule your vacation for these dates of the vacations in Tulum.

    Festivals of Tulum

    Festivals of Tulum

Tulum will always be one of the cities in the Riviera Maya where its traditions, festivals and culture is for everyone and now we will tell you about it in this post.

    Carnaval of Tulum

Carnival (spelled Carnaval in Spanish) is a widely celebrated Catholic holiday, known for its Caribbean celebrations and wild colors. Comparable to Mardi Gras in New Orleans, it generally takes place a week before Ash Wednesday in the Catholic calendar. The holiday exists to celebrate fun before the strictness of Lent.

There are Carnaval celebrations all over the Riviera Maya, and Tulum is no exception. It is an explosion of lights, and colour, with bands playing music, parades with floats, elaborate and often feathered costumes, dancing, singing in the streets, fireworks, and food! Each town around the area holds their celebration at a different time, so there is time to visit each, and often Tulum in the final party.

    Alborada Maya

This is festival unique to Tulum, which takes place in March and has been going for decades. It happens at the Mayan Ceremonial Center in Tulum, where Mayan priests perform ceremonies to give thanks for good harvest.

Citizens honor the saints through pilgrimages, prayer, bullfighting, offerings, Mayan music, ceremony, and more. Many from nearby communities visit the decorated Church of Tulum in this unique meld of Maya and Catholic tradition.

    Festival of the Speaking Cross

In July is the Festival of the Talking Cross (Cruz Parlante) another interesting combination of Catholic and pagan culture. The origin of this unique religious sect stems from the Caste War in the early 1800’s. This was the start of the oppressed Maya rising up. When rebel leader Jose Maria Barrera discovered a strange object in a nearby cenote, it helped the Maya to join together under one cultural identity.

This wooden object that looked somewhat like a Christian cross, and partly like the Maya tree of life symbol, the object literally spoke to its followers.

Subsequently, this “Talking Cross” became the crux of an entirely new religion. It uniquely combines loose Catholic traditions with Maya words and gods, and is now a festival here in Tulum.

    Festival of the Sea Turtle

This festival takes place in various places during October along the coast of Quintana Roo. There are lots of cultural and environmental activities, with the aim of helping tourists and locals understand how to better care for these beautiful creatures that share the sea with us.

There is plenty of fun, too, with a kite-flying contest, sand-castle competition, and Mayan music and cultural activities! Aimed toward children and adults, this festival has been going annually since 2003 and it completely free. Come visit Tulum during one of these unique festivals.

    Tulum Equinox

Another of the traditional festivities in Tulum that is little known, but just as wonderful is the Tulum equinox. Just like Chichen Itza, Tulum keeps a mystical moment in the castle of its archaeological site.
